Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026

Oversong is a product name of, and is operated by, Elowin Labs LLC ("we," "us," "our"), the data controller for the Oversong app and this website. This policy explains what the app actually does with what you share.

The short version: your voice never leaves your device. There are no accounts. What you search with is sent as text only if you turn on AI, and we store none of it. Kept passages and prayers stay on your device. We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across apps or websites.

1. What the app processes

Your voice. When you speak to Oversong, Apple's speech technology turns it into text on your device. The recording never leaves your device and is never sent to us or anyone else.

What you search with, when AI is on. The first time a search could use AI, the app asks on a dedicated screen. If you agree, the words of your search, as text, go to our server and from there to OpenAI, which returns Bible references. The verses themselves are always quoted from the Bible stored on your device. If you decline, every search stays on your device.

Prayers (Pro), when AI is on. When you ask for a prayer, the words of your search and the passages you were shown go to our server and from there to Anthropic, which writes the prayer text. With AI off, prayers are composed on your device.

Crisis language. The app checks your words on your device first. If they suggest you may be in danger, it shows crisis resources (such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) and does not send those words for a prayer.

Kept passages and prayers. Stored only on your device with iOS file protection, and included in your own device backups. Never stored on our servers.

Subscription status. Purchases go through Apple. To confirm Pro for a prayer, the app sends our server the subscription record Apple signed, which contains an anonymous transaction number, the product and its expiry, and no name, email or Apple ID.

Fair use. To prevent abuse, the app creates a random identifier on install. Our server keeps daily counters keyed to it, to the anonymous transaction number and to your IP address for a short window. They are not linked to who you are and expire within weeks.

Usage analytics. We use TelemetryDeck for anonymized, aggregate counts (for example, how many searches returned results). Signals never include what you say or read. Private Mode in Settings turns them off entirely. There is no advertising SDK and no app-tracking prompt because there is nothing to ask about.

This website. oversong.app counts visits with Plausible Analytics, which uses no cookies and collects no personal data.

Apple Search Ads attribution. If you installed from an Apple ad, the app may ask Apple which campaign it came from. This uses Apple's privacy-preserving attribution and no personal data.

2. How we use information

Only to run Oversong: finding passages, writing prayers, confirming subscriptions, preventing abuse and keeping the service reliable. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and under the terms we use them on, neither we nor our providers train AI models on what you send.

3. Service providers

4. Retention

Requests pass through our server and are not stored as content. The fair-use counters expire within weeks. Provider copies expire on their schedules above. Deleting the app deletes everything on your device (a copy may remain in your own backups until they age out).

5. Your choices and rights

You can turn AI off in Settings at any time, decline the microphone and type instead, turn on Private Mode, delete Kept items, and manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple account settings. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port personal data, or to object to processing (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA). Because we hold no account or identity data, most requests are met by the controls above, but you can always write to us and we will help, and we will never treat you differently for exercising your rights. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

6. Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit, kept items use iOS complete file protection, and our server holds provider keys, not your content. No system is perfectly secure, but the most personal things, your voice and your prayers, stay on your device.

7. Children

Oversong is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as Oversong changes; the date above shows the latest change, and significant changes will be noted in the app.
